Kovrov Motorcycle and Sports Museum
About museum
In August 2018 the Kovrovets Ice Palace opened the Kovrov Motorcycle and Sports Museum. The museum features 28 motorcycles produced by the V. A. Degtyaryov factory since 1946, as well as racing models. The museum's goal is to show residents and visitors the stages of motorcycle production development in Kovrov, and to introduce the people who created the road motorcycles 'Kovrovets' and 'Voskhod'. Over the years the factory produced more than 7.7 million motorcycles. Since the mid-1950s, motorsport began to develop actively in Kovrov. From 1957 the city has hosted the All-Union motocross and the first motoball match. Today Kovrov already hosts the European Championship in this sport. The museum exhibits motorcycles of outstanding Kovrov racers, various modifications of motoball motorcycles, photographs, awards, and notable exhibits of Kovrov motocross riders and motoball players. The second part of the exhibition is devoted to the history of sport development in Kovrov and to exhibits from various federations.
