The plant manufactured electrotechnical equipment: motors, generators, transformers, and products for electrical networks. In its early years, production was so successful that by 1908 the plant had been reorganized as the joint-stock company 'Krasny Oktyabr'. It became one of the largest manufacturers of electrotechnical equipment in Russia. In recent years the plant has made a significant contribution to the development of electrical engineering and the entire Russian energy sector.

\r\nAt the end of the 19th century, after the electrification of the capital of the Russian Empire began, a new branch of mechanical engineering emerged — electrical engineering. In 1891 an enterprise for the production of electrotechnical equipment was founded, the electromechanical plant 'V. Saveliev & Co'. In 1908 it was reorganized into the joint-stock company 'Krasny Oktyabr'. This enterprise became one of the largest manufacturers of electrotechnical equipment in Russia. In recent years the plant has made a major contribution to the development of electrical engineering and Russia's energy industry.
