Museum of the History of Vocational Education
About museum
The Museum of the History of Vocational Education was established in 1978 by order of GlavLenProfObr on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Labour Reserves system. It was created on the basis of the House of Technology under the direction of the Main Directorate of Vocational and Technical Education (PTO) of Leningrad and the Leningrad Region with the participation of staff from vocational educational institutions. In 1980 it opened to its first visitors. In 2016 the museum was moved to the building of the Palace of Student Youth of Saint Petersburg. It presents a chronology of historical events beginning in the time of Peter I, when the first secular educational institutions were opened. The museum uses modern technologies: interactive panels, tablets, sound boxes, digital display cases. It also serves as a career guidance center for school graduates. The museum's collection is constantly supplemented with documentary sources. It has become a base for research and educational work.
