Museum of the History of the Town of Borodino
About museum
In 1996 the Museum of the History of the Town of Borodino in Krasnoyarsk Krai was established; its concept centers on the image of the Borodino brown-coal open-pit — the largest in Russia. At the core of the main exhibition is an archive of human destinies. The museum's goal is to preserve the collective memory of the post-war construction of the Borodino workers' settlement. Special attention is paid to an installation representing a coal quarry with its benches, consisting of 4,000 elements. The layered structure imitates the structure of anthracite. The museum's exhibits include examples of Soviet-era clothing, technical objects, front-line letters from veterans of the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945), and a collection of Soviet toys and household items. The collection covers the period from 1945 to the present. Some exhibits are available for interactive accompaniment during tours.
