Gali Sokoroy Museum
About museum
In June 2001 a branch of the National Museum was opened in the Republic of Bashkortostan dedicated to the famous 19th-century scholar and poet-educator Gali Sokoroy. Since 2010 it has been a branch of MAU Tatyshlinsky Historical and Local Lore Museum. The interior of the museum reflects the 19th-century style, and photographs of members of the Kiekov family hang on the walls. The household items of Gali Sokoroy are also displayed there, as well as the shezhere (genealogical record) of the Iraktin Bashkirs compiled by the poet himself. The museum staff have compiled a map of the settlement of Gali Sokoroy's descendants and conduct excursions to memorable sites such as the poet's grave in the village of Starochukurovo, the grave of his son Garifulla Kiekov in the village of Stary Kurdym, the grave of the Bashkir khan Isan-khan in the village of Novochukurovo, the first settlement in Starochukurovo and the khazrat spring in the village of Stary Kurdym.
