Museum of Elabuga Merchants
About museum
The Museum of Elabuga Merchants is located in the courtyard of the Elabuga Institute of Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University. It presents diverse aspects of the activities of Elabuga's merchants, displayed as thematic exhibitions. In the first hall, visitors can feel as if they are in a 19th-century merchant's shop, where goods traded at that time are exhibited. In addition, the museum features shops that appeared in the second half of the 19th century and an entire complex of merchant-house interiors. In 2013, new exhibits were added to the museum from the family archives of the descendants of the Stakheev family and from letters of Elabuga's Tatar merchants. Due to the richness and historical value of its collections, the Museum of Elabuga Merchants is one of the most significant museums not only within the Elabuga Institute but also in the Prikamye region.
