About museum
The Murom Museum is one of the largest in Vladimir Oblast. It was opened on January 1, 1919, and in 2007 it was granted the status of a regional cultural institution. In 2009 the museum was recognized as a particularly valuable object of cultural heritage of Vladimir Oblast. The museum's collections comprise more than 90,000 storage units. They include collections of well-known Russian archaeologists, as well as Murom antiquarians and collectors of antiquities. The museum's exhibition center is located in the former house of the Golubev merchants, which is one of the most beautiful houses in Murom. The unique south facade of the building is distinguished by six Ionic columns and two high porches separated by an arch. The west facade attracts attention due to inserts of three-arched Venetian windows. The museum houses permanent exhibitions 'Treasures of Ancient Murom', 'The Town and Its Citizens', as well as one or two temporary exhibitions.
