The Memorial House-Museum of Academician Nikolai Vasilievich Melnikov is located on the grounds of the Sarapul Historical-Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve. It is the only museum in Russia devoted to the life and work of Nikolai Vasilievich, an outstanding mining scientist. The house in which it is located previously stood elsewhere — on Ierusalimskaya Street (now Azina St.). This was the house where Nikolai Vasilievich spent his childhood and youth and where his family lived. In 1981 a decision was made to move the house to the museum grounds and convert it into a memorial house-museum. The first floor recreates the interior of the living rooms of Nikolai Vasilievich's parents, while the second floor tells the story of his professional and scientific biography. The museum staff carry out active educational activities that allow visitors to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of everyday life and celebrations of past centuries.
