Vladimir Serov Memorial Art Museum
About museum
In 1980 a museum was opened dedicated to the life and work of Vladimir Alexandrovich Serov, a representative of 'socialist realism', People's Artist of the USSR, and President of the USSR Academy of Arts (1910–1968). The exhibition includes portraits, genre paintings, drawings, sketches, studies, and book illustrations, many of which were created in the Tver region. A prominent place among them is the 'Portrait of V. I. Lenin', executed in charcoal and acquired from the artist's family. In addition, the museum presents Serov's Leniniana, supplemented with drawings, sketches and studies for the portrait of Lenin. To better understand Serov's work and personality, an archival collection and a photo negative archive were created, including photographs, documents, and letters.
