Krasnoufimsk Municipal Local History Museum
About museum
Krasnoufimsk Local History Museum, one of the oldest in the Urals, was established in 1912 by the Krasnoufimsk Zemstvo at the initiative of local teachers to assist students — to demonstrate teaching aids and to exhibit old objects that tell about the historical past of the region's inhabitants. The museum collections preserve information on the region's history expressed in documentary, pictorial, and material sources. In 1919 the local history museum received exhibits from the private museum of the noble Golubtsov family, whose generations studied local history and played a significant role in the spiritual life of the region. The exhibition consists of two departments — the history and nature of the region. The halls of the historical department present material monuments and historical-domestic complexes that recount the region's eventful history. The unique and astonishingly beautiful nature of the surroundings of Krasnoufimsk and the diversity of the plant and animal world are reflected in the nature department's exhibition.
