MBU 'Vorkuta Municipal Archive'
About museum
In the late 1940s archival activity began in Vorkuta, which became one of the key factors in the city's development. Today the Vorkuta Archive is the largest municipal archive in the Komi Republic. It houses documents of historical, cultural and practical value that may be needed to resolve various issues, for example those related to a citizen's employment history, and for writing essays, term papers and even scholarly works on the city's history, economy and culture. The history of Vorkuta began 30 years before the archive's establishment with the arrival of the first settlers, who brought the warmth of their hearts to the Bolshezemelskaya tundra and began explorations to uncover the treasures of this land for the people.
