Borodin Forge
About museum
The workshop of the Borodin family of hereditary blacksmiths has become a center for preserving the blacksmith's craft and folk traditions. It still operates today, which makes it especially valuable for visitors. Here you can see a real forge fire, feel the heat of red-hot metal, hold genuine blacksmithing tools in your hands, and learn how a modern forge differs from an old one. Visitors can not only observe the working forge but also visit a gallery of decorative and applied art. The masters work using traditional techniques, and the Borodin artisan-blacksmiths' participation in All-Russian and international art exhibitions attests to their quality. There are dozens of forged works of art here made in the traditions of Russian folk forging, as well as candlesticks crafted using jewelry-forging techniques. Each piece is light, graceful, and unique, because it carries a piece of the master's soul and the warmth of the craftsman's hands. All works are available to guests.
