Kuvandyk Museum and Exhibition Center
About museum
On April 30, 1966 the Kuvandyk District Local History Museum was opened. In the 1970s it was allocated two rooms in the old hotel on Mira Avenue, and in 1983 it moved to the District House of Culture (RDK) building into offices previously occupied by the district library. However, in 1992 a fire destroyed 80% of the museum's materials and exhibits. After that it was relocated to the old administration building at 22 Orenburgskaya Street. Today the MBUK "Museum and Exhibition Center" has six exhibit halls, three exhibition rooms for works by artists and folk art masters, and a storage facility of 40 sq. m. The museum's holdings consist of 11 collections, and the number of items in the main fund as of January 1, 2022 is 10,105. It receives more than 7,000 visitors annually, conducts 220 guided tours, over 30 public events and 30 exhibitions. The museum also runs 5 museum programs.
