About museum
The main building of the Dmitrovsky Kremlin Museum-Reserve is located in the central part of Dmitrov at the intersection of Zagorskaya and Pushkinskaya streets. It is situated in a protected zone two hundred meters from a historical and cultural monument and close to low-rise residential development dating from the early 20th century. There are pedestrian paths, fountains and greenery, making the site attractive for walks and relaxation. The building, constructed in 2004, houses exhibition halls with an area of more than 1,500 sq. m., administrative offices and collections storage. The exhibitions reflect the history of everyday life and the artistic life of the region from the second half of the 18th century to the beginning of the 21st century. The museum is open to visitors according to its regular opening hours. Locals and visitors can enjoy pleasant walks and leisure in this place.

The museum's collections began to be formed in 1918. Among the wide variety of items, the most noteworthy are paintings of the 18th–19th centuries, icons of the 18th–19th centuries located in the iconostasis of the Assumption Cathedral and in the exhibition, and household items from noble estates: furniture, tableware, jewelry, clothing and books. Items of ecclesiastical art that entered the museum during the years of anti-religious campaigns, which resulted in the closure of monasteries and churches, are of particular interest. Documents held in the museum archive are in great demand: personal collections of the nobility who lived in the Dmitrov region and documents related to the history of Dmitrov churches; confessional and metric registers containing information about the peasants of Dmitrovsky uyezd; and Zemstvo administration documents that reveal the history of the Dmitrov region.
