Exhibition Hall "Pokrovka, 8"
About museum
The museum branch "Pokrovka, 8" is located on Bolshaya Pokrovskaya Street — one of the oldest and most central streets in Nizhny Novgorod. The building became part of the Gorky Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve in 1969, and in 1970 the first exhibition was opened to mark the 100th anniversary of V. I. Lenin. On the basement floor of the building is the "Toy Museum" — a joint project of the Nizhny Novgorod Museum-Reserve and artist Alexander Lavrov, launched in 2011. Here you can see more than 800 exhibits, including dolls, toy cars, model railways, plush and mechanical toys of Soviet and foreign manufacture, as well as unique specimens. Workshops and quizzes are held for children and their parents. On the third floor of the exhibition hall there is a samovar exhibition consisting of 80 items produced by various factories in Russia and abroad since 1885. It includes bulotki, teapots, sets and accessories for the traditional Russian tea service. A highlight of the exhibition is a Soviet 45-liter buffet samovar.
