Kuytun District Local History Museum
About museum
On December 25, 1998, the Kuytun District Local History Museum was opened in the settlement, housed in an old two-story wooden building constructed in 1896. A federal highway runs around it, formerly called the "kandal road", along which convicts in chains, the Decembrists, the Petrashevites, participants in the Polish uprising and others were moved. On the second floor the museum has six halls with various exhibitions: nature; archaeology and history; a Russian izba; military glory; the USSR; and "Kuytun District Today". On the first floor there are large and small exhibition halls where various events are held, and the museum's collections comprise almost 7,000 items.
