About museum
The Adygeysk Local History Museum was opened on September 27, 1994, in honor of the city's 25th anniversary. At the time of its opening the museum housed more than 700 exhibits. Svetlana Gissovna Dakhuzheva was the first director of the museum, and since 2012 this position has been held by Zukhra Shamalyevna Gadagatel. In 2014 the museum was moved to the building of the Center of Folk Culture, which allowed the museum's area to increase from 190.7 to 250 sq. m and the number of exhibition halls from 4 to 5. New metal shelving was installed in the museum's storage, and new display cases were purchased and installed in the 'Archaeology' hall. An information screen was installed on the building of the Center of Folk Culture, allowing the display of the names of museum sections, themed tours, museum talks, etc. Currently the museum's main and scientific-auxiliary collections number more than 4,000 exhibits. Various events are held for museum visitors, including talks, quizzes and exhibitions.
