About museum

In 1980, in the urban-type settlement of Kargapolye, a museum of revolutionary, military and labor glory was opened in commemoration of the 110th anniversary of the birth of V. I. Lenin. Since 2002 it has been a municipal cultural institution. As of January 1, 2019, the museum's main collection comprised 10,961 items, and its research and auxiliary collection comprised 5,695 storage units. The museum has five exhibition halls devoted to the history of the Kargapolsky region, the trades and crafts of the local population, and the contemporary history of the district. For high achievements in the development of culture and the strengthening of the educational traditions of Kurgan Oblast, the museum staff received a letter of appreciation from the Kurgan Regional Duma in 2017. In 2010 and 2014 the museum was awarded laureate diplomas in the regional interdepartmental competition 'Heritage' in the nomination 'Best Municipal Museum of Kurgan Oblast.'
