Ivanovo Regional Art Museum
About museum
The Ivanovo Regional Art Museum was established by decision of the Soviet government in 1959 and opened in 1960. The red-brick building in the eclectic style was built in the last quarter of the 19th century for a real (technical) school and a school of colorists in Ivanovo. The museum's holdings were formed by transferring part of the collection of the Ivanovo Regional Museum of Local Lore. The unique collections of the Ivanovo-Voznesensk manufacturer and collector D. G. Burylin, donation transfers from the 1920s–1930s from the State Museum, the Tretyakov Gallery and the Russian Museum are of great value. The museum's collections were actively supplemented with works by major masters of all genres and movements of 20th-century Soviet art and with works by Ivanovo artists. Currently the museum's collection comprises 45,118 inventory items.
