Historical and Literary Museum 'A.P. Chekhov and Sakhalin'

The Historical and Literary Museum 'A. P. Chekhov and Sakhalin' is one of eight memorial museums dedicated to A. P. Chekhov and was established by the order of the Alexandrovsk-Sakhalinsk City Council of Workers' Deputies of Sakhalin Oblast on November 1, 1967. Since 2012 it has been a state budgetary cultural institution. The museum's collection includes more than 20,000 items, including a large numismatics collection, rare editions published before 1917, and items that belonged to A. P. Chekhov. The museum also exhibits artworks by Sergei Mikhailovich Chekhov, the writer's nephew.
