Historical and Local Lore Museum of the village of Kungurtug

About museum

In March 2016, a historical and local lore branch of the National Museum of the Republic of Tuva was opened in the village of Kungurtug, Tere-Khol Kozhuun. The branch was founded by Byayas Khomushku — a history teacher at the local school who is devoted to the history of his native region. The museum's collection includes rare exhibits, including the chain mail of an ancient warrior. After her husband's death, Serenmaa Shuluyevna Khomushku carefully preserves and promotes his legacy. The branch building houses six exhibition halls: "Traditional Culture", "History of the Kozhuun", "Por-Bazhyn Fortress", "Russian Culture", "Sacred Places of the Kozhuun". In addition, the museum hosts meetings for visitors with scientists, figures from science, culture and the arts, veterans, and others.
