In the Chuvash Republic there is something unique — a cultural and historical center in the Poretsky District that combines a folk gallery and a historical and local lore museum. All forms of art are represented here, as well as more than 100 paintings, 20 sculptures and 60 graphic works by authors from all over Russia. In 1967 a historical and local lore museum was opened in an old 19th-century mansion, which houses more than 3,000 exhibits. This contributes to the preservation and development of the fine and folk arts and culture of Chuvashia.
