About museum
In 1999, on the initiative of a board member of the Mariinsko-Posad community and art historian Y. V. Viktorov, the Y. A. Zaytsev Art Gallery was founded. Its collection includes paintings by artists native to the Mariinsko-Posadsky District. The gallery building is a 19th-century monument of history, architecture and urban planning, where N. K. Krupskaya spoke in 1919. Today the gallery exhibits more than 570 paintings, sculptures and items of decorative and applied arts, donated to it by People's Artists of Chuvashia and Honored Artists of Russia. Over the past 10 years the Y. A. Zaytsev Art Gallery has been included in cruise and recreational-educational tourist routes, welcoming tour groups from different regions of Russia.
