About museum

The art gallery in the city of Khimki solemnly opened its doors to its first visitors on December 24, 1993. The gallery owes its existence to Professor Sergey Nikolaevich Gorshin, an outstanding scholar and collector of Russian realist painting of the 19th - 20th centuries.
As a gift from S.N. Gorshin, paintings and studies by celebrated masters of Russian painting were transferred to the gallery: I.K. Aivazovsky, L.F. Lagorio, K.E. Makovsky, V.D. Polenov, A.K. Savrasov, I.I. Shishkin, I.I. Endogurov, I.I. Levitan, I.S. Ostroukhov, K.A. Savitsky, Z.E. Serebriakova, M.A. Voloshin, D.D. Burliuk, K.F. Yuon, R.R. Falk and many others.
At present, the museum's painting collection will impress art lovers with world-renowned names as well as lesser-known authentic works by celebrated Russian artists.
