The Isetsky People's Local History Museum named after Anatoly Lavrentyevich Emelyanov is one of the research institutions in the Isetsky district. For 42 years it has carried out research, outreach and exhibition activities on the history of the Pri-Isetye region, aiming to educate the younger generation. It is located in the old village of Isetskoe, 78 km from the regional capital on the 'Baikal' highway. The museum has 10 exhibition halls that interestingly present the history of Pri-Isetye and its settlement, churches, daily life, peasants' crafts and trades, and the military and labor glory of local people. Topics on the history of the Old Believers and the ancient history of the area are especially popular. Here you can learn what 'dvoedane', 'obroshnye icons', 'shashmura' and 'lestovka' are and see finds from the Ingala Valley. Visitors also learn about the Sargat, Barkhatov, Baitov and Alakul peoples, rock paintings, and the remarkable customs of ancient Bronze and Iron Age tribes. Visiting the museum is a real journey into the past.
