Gulkevichi Historical and Local Lore Museum
About museum
The Gulkevichi District Historical and Local Lore Museum was founded in 1977. Initially it was the district museum of military and labor glory, dedicated to fellow countrymen who participated in the Great Patriotic War, as well as to materials and documents related to the name of Hero of the Soviet Union V. V. Gorbatko. The founder of the museum was E. S. Smyk, Honored Cultural Worker of the RSFSR. Later, the museum director was appointed E. M. Eresko, a member of the Union of Journalists of the USSR and former editor of the district newspaper 'Prikubanskaya Iskra.' The museum hosts exhibitions of various genres—collectible and thematic—as well as events outside its walls. There are halls dedicated to the Great Patriotic War, the Soviet period of history, the conquest of space, and the traditional Russian matryoshka doll. The museum's collections preserve valuable exhibits and documents, as well as gifts from the Yuri A. Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center. Museum staff run tourist routes, offsite excursions, museum classes, lectures, master classes, meetings with the city's intelligentsia and competitions.
