Kashin Local History Museum
About museum
Kashin Local History Museum was established in 1918 and opened in February 1919. It was based on the private collection of merchant I. Ya. Kunkin, and its first director was his son V. I. Kunkin. The museum originally had three departments: historical-archaeological, ethnographic-economic, and natural history. In 1922 the museum came under the administration of the Tver Regional Museum. In 1932 the museum moved into the building of the Entry into Jerusalem Church. In 1930 the relics of Saint Anna of Kashin were added to the museum's exhibition. In 1977 the Kashin museum became a branch of the Kalinin (now Tver) State United Museum. The modern exhibition was created in 1992 and allows visitors to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the ancient town. Various events are held at the museum, including exhibitions, lectures, master classes and tours.
