Yevpatoria Local History Museum was opened in 1921 and acquaints visitors with the 2,500-year history of the city and the nature of Crimea. The museum presents materials on military events and on the establishment and development of the Yevpatoria resort. The permanent exhibition 'Mosaic of Ancient Cultures' features objects of decorative and applied art from antiquity, the Middle Ages and modern times. The museum conducts more than 2,000 guided tours, 14 exhibitions and over 60 cultural events. In 1988 the diorama 'Landing of the Yevpatoria Landing Force on January 5, 1942' was opened. In 2012 a department of the museum's military history was opened on Revolyutsii Street. In 2000 an archaeological complex with a lapidary exhibition was created near the entrance. The Yevpatoria museum attracts more than 60,000 visitors a year.
