In 1932, at the very beginning of the city's existence, a local history museum was opened. In 1955 the museum received its own building, and the city's residents helped expand its collection by bringing household and antique items. Today the museum collection consists of 40,000 storage units in the main fund and 25,000 storage units in the scientific and auxiliary fund. The museum features various collections, for example 'Archaeology', 'Ceramics, porcelain, glass, bone', 'Textiles', 'Wood', 'Metal, stone', 'Archaeology', 'Works of art', 'Science and technology', 'Rare book', 'Objects of church worship', 'Manuscripts and printed documents', 'Photo'. The museum conducts various events, including exhibitions, presentations, discussions, lectures, educational and hands-on practical classes and celebrations.
