The Palace of Culture and Technology of the Moscow Aviation Institute was founded in 1933. In 1976 the construction of the palace's modern building with a large concert hall for 1,007 seats was completed.
The MAI Palace of Culture and Technology has hosted performances by Vladimir Vysotsky, Arkady Raikin, Viktor Tsoi and the band Kino, the rock band Alisa. In 1986 it held the first concert of the band Aria. Artists such as Lev Leshchenko, Oleg Gazmanov, Alexander Marshal and Alexander Gradsky have shone here. Well-known satirists and MAI alumni Mikhail Zadornov and Lion Izmailov, as well as singer Yulia Savicheva, began their careers here. The Maly Theatre, the Satirikon Theatre, the Russian Academic Youth Theatre (RAMT), the Oleg Tabakov College and many others have staged their productions here.
Today the MAI Palace of Culture and Technology is a modern venue that regularly hosts festivals, concerts, plays, theatrical performances, exhibitions and lectures by experts in various fields of science, culture and the arts, aimed at a broad audience. The stage of the large concert hall is equipped with modern sound and lighting systems, a revolving stage, a cinema screen; there are 30 automated lifting mechanisms for scenery and 5 dressing rooms.
