Stoletov House Museum
About museum
A memorial museum was opened in Vladimir in the wing of the Stoletov family home. The family raised people who became well-known in Russia: Alexander Grigorievich — an outstanding scientist; Nikolay Grigorievich — a general who took part in the Russo-Turkish War; and Dmitry Grigorievich — a major general of artillery. In Bulgaria, streets and villages are named after General Stoletov, and in Moscow there is a monument to the physicist Stoletov near Moscow State University. In Vladimir there is also a university named after the Stoletov brothers. The house still preserves furniture, personal belongings, photographs, manuscripts, and flowers on the windowsills. Relatives of the Stoletovs, Moscow State University, museums in Bulgaria, and Vladimir researchers and local historians helped create the Vladimir–Suzdal Museum-Reserve's exhibition. For the city's residents, a visit to the Stoletov House Museum begins with guided tours where one can feel the atmosphere of the past and observe the photoelectric effect.
