Prometey Ionovich Chistalev House-Museum
About museum
In 2004, the Prometey Ionovich Chistalev House-Museum was opened in the village of Nyuvchim, and it was reopened in 2019 after having been closed in 2010. The building was constructed by A. V. Anisimov in 1901, and his daughter Elizaveta Aleksandrovna — the wife of the well-known Komi writer and educator Ion Timofeevich Chistalev — lived there for almost her entire life. The house-museum presents an exhibition on the life and work of Prometey Ionovich Chistalev, as well as on the fates of his relatives and close associates. The scientist's personal belongings are preserved here, along with collections of folk songs that he arranged from 1960. The house-museum is part of the well-known tourist route "Nyuvchimskie pelelivy", along which visitors can see the famous Nyuvchim cast-iron foundry. In addition, the museum annually hosts the interregional music festival "A Thread Connecting Times".
