House Museum "Komi Izba"

About museum

In 2006, the House Museum "Komi Izba" was opened in the village of Muzhi; the driving force and first manager was Anna Alexandrovna Khudaley. The museum is currently directed by Tatyana Vasilyevna Anufrieva. It presents the interior of a traditional Komi house from the late 19th to the first half of the 20th century. The temporary exhibition hall displays expositions dedicated to the culture of the Komi-Zyryan people. Costumed performances, guided tours, and museum lessons are held here. Swings are installed for children, and on Easter evening gatherings are held. The museum is famous for its hospitality and stays pleasantly cool even on hot summer days. Events in memory of the writer Ivan Istomin and meetings with representatives of the Komi-Zyryan people are held here. The house museum has become a place for the preservation and promotion of the cultural heritage of the Komi-Zyryan people.
