House-Museum of Yefim Mikhailovich Cheptsov
About museum
Since 1982 the House-Museum of Yefim Mikhailovich Cheptsov has been operating in the village of Medvenka; it is a branch of the Kursk Art Gallery named after A. A. Deineka. The museum's exhibition consists of paintings, furniture, documents, personal belongings and household items that provide an impression of the artist's rural way of life. The house-museum is a one-story wooden building faced with stone, with a total area of 70 sq. m and an exhibition area of 50 sq. m. E. M. Cheptsov (1874–1950) was born and worked here, coming to Medvenka in the summers. He created his own synthesis of classical and modern art, and his painting remains 'a window to the world'. The museum recreates the Cheptsov family's home interior and displays works by E. M. Cheptsov as well as rotating exhibitions by Kursk artists. The house-museum invites visitors on a journey through the history of art and the discovery of his world.
