Alexander Bestuzhev-Marlinsky House Museum
About museum
The house-museum, built in the 19th century, has great historical value. The exiled writer-Decembrist Alexander Alexandrovich Bestuzhev-Marlinsky lived here. In 1941 the building was acquired by the city's local history museum. Later a children's library was opened, and restoration began in 1986. In 1988 the building was opened as a museum dedicated to A. A. Bestuzhev-Marlinsky. The museum features four rooms in which the living environment of the Decembrist writer has been recreated. They contain household items used by Bestuzhev, allowing visitors to learn more about his life and his relationship to local customs.
