The Desnogorsk museum has established contacts with major museums and exhibition centers across Russia, which has allowed local residents to view artists' exhibitions and significant displays without leaving the city. The museum's activities include not only exhibitions and displays but also vibrant cultural programs. Since 2012 it has participated in the all‑Russian event 'Night at the Museum'. However, the main focus of the museum's work remains the collection and preservation of historical data about the city, its residents, and the construction of the nuclear power plant. Over the years the museum has received more than five thousand exhibits thanks to donors who bring items related to their family's history. In this way, the donor's name becomes part of the history of the museum and the city. From the beginning the museum was founded not only through the labor of its staff but also through the warmth of their hearts. It has taken a unique place in the cultural life of the city.
