Chumai Local History Museum
About museum
In 1960, a local history museum was officially opened in the village of Chumai. To date, various exhibitions have been created and updated. The Nature Department displays mammoth remains, minerals, rocks, and taxidermy specimens. In the 'Great Patriotic War' department visitors can see military uniforms and bayonets from the 1940s–1950s, as well as weapon replicas. The exhibition 'Soviet Period (1960s–1980s)' features school supplies, cameras, microscopes, and typewriters. In the 'Peasant Life of the 19th Century' exhibition you can find a Russian stove, ukhvat (long-handled pot lifters), cast-iron pots, a carrying yoke, and much more. The museum offers several guided routes: 'Chumai — an old village' and 'Chumai: from volcanoes to the peasant uprising'.
