Center for Folk and Decorative-Applied Arts
About museum
In 2000 a wooden building was erected in Naryan-Mar based on the design of the town's first house, which had been built in 1924. A museum-exhibition center was established there, dedicated to the study, preservation, and development of authentic national folk crafts. Seminars, master classes and creative workshops are organized for artisans, members of club groups and the general public. For example, the women's club "Polar Rose" discusses new articles in magazines and shares seeds and seedlings. There is also the "Masternitsy" club, where masters reveal the secrets of traditional Nenets art, and the "Chudoruchki" studio, where artisans engage in sewing, toy making, knitting, modeling, soap-making, beadwork and scrapbooking. Finally, there is the women's club "Feya", which holds creative and educational sessions, creative laboratories, master classes and takes part in exhibitions.
