Sverdlovsk District Museum of History and Local Lore

The Sverdlovsk District Museum of History and Local Lore was established at the initiative of the District Council of Veterans of War, Labor and Law Enforcement, pursuant to Decision No. 17/108 of the Sverdlovsk District Council of People's Deputies dated May 14, 2012. The museum's exhibition halls are as follows: the Ancient History Hall (from the Vyatichi to the Kurakin princes); the Early 20th Century History Hall up to 1941 (the revolution and the civil war in the district); the Great Patriotic War History Hall (the period of occupation and the liberation of the district from the fascist invaders); the Soviet History Hall; and the Literary Hall (about local writers). The museum offers guided tours grouped by theme: From the Depths of Centuries; the Early 20th Century; the Great Patriotic War; Zmiyevsky Land — a literary stronghold; How People Lived in Old Times; life at the Kurakin estate; revolutionary events and the civil war in the district; and participation in nationwide and international initiatives. The museum's holdings comprise approximately 2,860 items.
