Bikin Local History Museum
About museum
Bikin Local History Museum is a worthwhile place for tourists and historians.
The local history museum in the town of Bikin was established in 1979 at the initiative of the local community. It opened on May 9, 1984. The founder and first director of the museum was local historian and artist N. G. Evseev. The museum's core collection consisted of his personal collections. To accommodate a larger number of objects and photo documents, the museum building was expanded to two stories in 1988. Currently the museum holds more than 15,000 items of various exhibits. Permanent exhibitions feature unique photographs, household items, as well as animals and plants that provide insight into the history of the Bikin district and the small-numbered indigenous peoples. The sculptural groups of animals and birds for the dioramas were made by local residents. At present the museum is actively developing, reaching an international level and becoming accessible to citizens of neighboring countries. The Bikin Local History Museum is an excellent place for tourists and historians.
