Akshinsky Local History Museum

Wooden architectural monument, built to the individual order of a gold prospector, is protected by the state. Work to establish the museum began in 1981. Today it serves the population of five districts and receives inquiries from various regions of Russia and abroad. The museum's exhibitions attract the attention of schoolchildren, teachers, students and others. The museum carries out activities in ecology and local history, and also hosts inter-district conferences and seminars. The most valuable collections are: the personal collection of V. Ya. Kokosov; works by craftsman I. A. Yanov; drawings and paintings by G. A. Shcheglov; works and drawings by B. D. Dolzhinov; coins of the 9th–20th centuries; archaeological items, Neolithic; ethnographic items of the 19th–20th centuries, tools, clothing and banners.
