Akshinsky Local History Museum
About museum
A wooden architecture monument, built to an individual order by a gold prospector, is protected by the state. Work to establish the museum began in 1981. Today it serves the population of five districts and receives inquiries from various regions of Russia and from abroad. The museum's exhibitions attract the attention of schoolchildren, teachers, students and others. The museum conducts activities in ecology and local history, as well as inter-district conferences and seminars. The most valuable collections are: the personal collection of V.Ya. Kokosov, works by craftsman I.A. Yanov, drawings and paintings by G.A. Shcheglov, works and drawings by B.D. Dolzhinov, coins of the 9th-20th centuries, archaeological items (Neolithic), ethnographic objects of the 19th-20th centuries, tools, clothing and banners.
