On the 225th anniversary of the birth of the writer and playwright I.A. Krylov and the 185th anniversary of the founding of the Borodino Museum
"Krylov's whole personality is reflected in his fables..."
V. G. Belinsky
The exhibition sheds light on the work of the well-known and beloved Russian writer Ivan Andreyevich Krylov (1769–1844), one of the most widely read national authors, who remained at the center of Russia's literary and public life for almost four decades. It was precisely his distinctive authorial style and clever irony that ensured the enduring popularity of his works.
The exhibits from various collections included in the exhibition allow visitors not only to view the events of the Patriotic War of 1812 through the prism of I.A. Krylov's uniquely characteristic works — his famous fables — but also to appreciate the high skill and talent of graphic artists and sculptors of the 19th and 20th centuries.
The main intention of the exhibition's creators is, through a museum dialogue, to awaken the visitor's interest in national history and literature and to turn once again to the original authorial texts.
The presented historical-literary project will become one of the highlights of the museum's anniversary celebrations.
The exhibition will be on display in Hall 6 of the exhibition 'Borodino Field. Milestones of History' (Imperial Palace, the village of Borodino) and will open on February 14, 2024.
