Department of History, Culture and Everyday Life of the Tersky Pomors of the Murmansk Regional Local History Museum
About museum
In 1988 the Tersky District Council established the Public Local History Museum 'Life and Trades of the Pomors' based at the Village House of Culture in the settlement of Umba. In 1991 the museum was founded by Lyudmila Valentinovna Panova, and on January 1, 1992 it was recognized by the Murmansk Regional Executive Committee as a department of the Murmansk Regional Local History Museum. The museum's exhibition includes two halls dedicated to the history, culture and everyday life of the Tersky Pomors, as well as the history of Umba and its enterprises. It presents monuments of Pomor culture, authentic Pomor antiquities, and sections devoted to the antiquity of the Tersk land, the emergence of Russian settlements, trades, crafts and the everyday life of the Pomors.
