Boris Pasternak's house is located in the famous writers' village of Peredelkino. Here Boris Leonidovich spent the last twenty years of his life. These years were productive for the writer: it was in Peredelkino that the poetry cycle 'On Early Trains' was created and the famous novel 'Doctor Zhivago' was written. It was also here that Pasternak translated works by world classics: Shakespeare, Goethe, Schiller, and learned he had been awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature.

The Pasternak family managed to preserve the house as it was during the writer's lifetime. Today Boris Leonidovich would be called a minimalist: he did not like luxury and strove for functional furnishings. The only truly valuable decorations in the house are the artworks of Leonid Osipovich, the poet's father. Pasternak's worldview is reflected in the interiors: the space appears ascetic and semi-empty because of the minimal number of objects, and the rooms are furnished with modest furniture. Only the KVN-49 television, which in the 1950s was a great rarity, indicated the family's prosperity. However, the writer never watched it, did not subscribe to newspapers, and forbade the installation of a telephone to avoid taking part in public life.

A writer should have a table, a chair, an iron bed, and the rest will be created by the imagination. Only then can one work.

Pasternak worked a lot, and relaxed by turning to physical labor: he grew potatoes in his own vegetable garden and tended the orchard. In Boris Leonidovich's study, the Spartan arrangement has been preserved: by the large window there is a wooden desk with a lamp, a chair, and a bookcase. The writer only had to acquire a bookcase after achieving world fame - until then he had managed his whole life with a single shelf. Vsevolod Ivanov, who lived in the neighboring dacha, recalled that Pasternak once entered his refined study and said: 'This is a contrived room. A writer should have a table, a chair, an iron bed, and the rest will be created by the imagination. Only then can one work.'

Pasternak's museum opened in 1990, for the writer's centenary. The museum operates an open storage policy, which implies maximum accessibility of the exhibitions for viewing. The Pasternak house-museum regularly offers guided thematic group tours, and self-guided visits are available. In addition, the museum hosts various events dedicated to the poet's work, lectures, and art workshops, and the cultural program covers the interests of visitors of different ages.
