Children's Park Zoo
About museum
Over time the Zoo continued to grow and new species of animals appeared. During the Soviet era there were active purchases and exchanges between zoos and animal corners of the socialist republics. It was during this period that the species composition of the Zoo in Simferopol expanded. In 1958 a Zoo was opened on the grounds of the Children's Park; it included small animals: rabbits, chickens, a small monkey, and ducks. Today it is one of the most popular places for cultural recreation in Simferopol. Currently the Zoo houses more than 300 species of animals; in 2012 the Children's Park administration acquired 12 new animals: the camel Basmach, two African ostriches, and a three-year-old male coati nicknamed Nosik.
