Znamensky District Historical and Local History Museum
About museum
In 1989 the process of assembling the collection of the Znamensky District Historical and Local History Museum began. To this end, a club called "Poisk" (Search) was created, in which students of Znamenskaya Secondary School collected materials and exhibits for the museum. In 1990, with the support of the Administration of Znamensky District, the museum was opened to visitors. Villagers donated to the museum items inherited from their ancestors. The museum acquired many interesting antique objects and exhibits of peasant life from Siberian villages. Today visitors can see various exhibits from the sections "First Settlers in the Territory of Znamensky District", "Peasant House of the Early 20th Century", "Holy Rus'", "Combat and Labor Feats of Znamensky Residents during the Great Patriotic War", "Living Antiquity" and "Contemporary History of Znamensky District".
