Zabaykalsky Regional Museum of Local Lore named after A.K. Kuznetsov is one of the oldest museums in Siberia and the Russian Far East. More than 190,000 artifacts of various cultures and historical periods are held in the museum's collection. Here you can find unique collections in archaeology, ethnography, religion, and art, and the manuscripts of the Decembrists and well-known public figures of Transbaikalia are preserved. The museum presents collections of documentary monuments from the 18th–20th centuries, numismatic items, paintings, porcelain, sculpture, and objects of decorative and applied arts. For visitors, the museum offers unique opportunities to become acquainted with the ancient culture of Transbaikalia, as well as to study the history of Soviet society and contemporary issues.
