About museum

In August 2005 an exhibition hall of the Kirov City Zoological Museum was opened; it belongs to the 'Russia' House of Culture. It contains the core of Vladimir Nestorovich Sotnikov's collection, donated to the city of Kirov in honor of the anniversary of the Novovyatsky District. The museum's halls permanently host the exhibition "Feathered Rainbow", which presents almost all the birds of the Kirov Region, neighboring territories and the Far East — about 500 species. The museum's second hall houses temporary exhibitions devoted to nature and ecology. The museum also holds master classes, lectures and other events.
