About museum

In 2006 a structural subdivision of the Desnogorsk Historical and Local Lore Museum was established — the Exhibition Hall. Each year it holds more than 12 exhibitions showcasing works by children and youth, as well as works by professional and independent artists of various genres. The Exhibition Hall closely cooperates with the Unions of Artists and Designers of Russia and of the Smolensk Region, the "Rosatom Culture Territory", and with major museums and exhibition centers across Russia. Thanks to this, residents and visitors can attend artists' exhibitions and displays of historical significance to the country without having to leave the city. Exhibition activities have enabled the formation of a contemporary art collection, which today consists of more than 200 works by contemporary artists and sculptors.
