Verkhnesaldinsky Local History Museum
About museum
Verkhnesaldinsky Local History Museum was founded on April 1, 1996, and is housed in two buildings. The main building, located at 64 Lenina Street, is a historical monument of regional significance from the first half of the 19th century. The building of the factory office of the Verkhnesaldinsky Plant was built in 1831 to a design by the serf architect of the Nizhny Tagil factories, A.P. Chebotaryov. From 1897 to 1901 the outstanding metallurgist and scientist Vladimir Yefimovich Grum-Grzhimaylo lived and worked here. Since October 2018 the main museum building at 64 Lenina Street has been closed to visitors due to repair works. The museum staff and the collection storage are located in the 'Museum of Everyday Life and Crafts' building. Currently work is carried out by appointment outside the museum: walking and bus tours, themed lectures and interactive classes, and tours of the museum's traveling exhibitions located at city institutions' sites: administration buildings, libraries, schools, clubs, etc.
